The design of a website is crucial because it can make or break your rankings in the search engine results page. However, creating a layout and the design of a website can be a hard experience, especially if you do not know which elements to tackle first.
Today, I am going to give you some tips on how you can create a web page that looks amazing and is functionally useful as well.
Design, Layout, and Navigation
The first step in web design is to think about what you want to convey to your potential visitors? Are you going to be an authority on a particular niche? Are you a part of a company and you’re selling something to the people?
Next, you have to create a layout. This is where all of the graphical elements will be laid down. Things like your wallpaper, your color scheme, and other design stuff will be implemented. Create a draft first and submit it to your clients. See if they like it and if they do, then proceed. If not, go back to the drawing board until you get your draft approved.
Also, do not forget about the site navigation. If your visitors need to do plenty of clicks before getting to your article, then you will most likely lose them. Be sure that your site is easy to navigate like creating a menu bar with sub-categories in each item should do the trick.
Avoid Unnecessary Elements
I know that as developers, we want to make our web pages as beautiful and as attention-grabbing as possible. However, sometimes we get too carried away in that we implement way too many graphical elements.
Avoid unnecessary clutter like removing the sidebar, incorporating thumbnails instead of whole pictures, among others.
Speed is Important
No one wants to wait for a website to load up and this is especially true in this day and age where we have faster Internet connection now than ever before.
You can make your website much faster by again avoiding unnecessary elements that can contribute to increased site loading times.
You can also optimize your images so that they will not be too big and that they do not take a lot of time to load.
If you’re using HTML to code your web pages, make sure to inspect every line of code so that you can omit redundancies or some lines that shouldn’t be there in the first place.
It Has to be SEO-Friendly
After making sure that your website is fast and has all of the eye-catching design elements, you want to also make sure that your website is SEO-friendly. After all, if you do not implement SEO on your web page, no one will be able to see all your hard work.
Once the website is done, start by creating articles that will attract potential customers. The article needs to be long-form and it also has to contain all of your chosen keywords.
Do remember that implementing the right SEO strategies will take time to take effect. So long as you’ve done all that is necessary, all you really have to do by then is wait.
